After graduating with his PhD, Jerry Swiggett went to work as a research engineer for DuPont, where he helped develop Kevlar Fiber. He subsequently worked at Olin Corporation, Oxirane (Arco), The Pace Company, and as an independent business consultant serving clients in the United Arab Emirates and Houston, Texas.
In 1985, he was appointed director for engineering and science program development with Lockheed Engineering and Sciences Company. Subsequently he became director of business development at Lockheed Environmental Systems and Technologies Company, and vice president for Mission Development at Lockheed Idaho Technologies Company, where he was charged with developing major new programs for the National Laboratory.
Swiggert subsequently became vice president for corporate development at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), director and senior vice president for Management Strategies, Inc., and chairman and president of GIS Enterprises, Inc. At GIS, he provides strategic and business development consulting support to major energy, engineering, and technology firms.
